First Draft Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) & Land Use Bylaw (LUB)

The first Draft MPS and LUB are online for public review. The engagement period is now complete and final edits will be made to the documents before moving to the formal adoption phase.

Vision Statement and Guiding Principles (Draft)

The draft 2022 statements have been written to align with the Municipality’s recently completed Strategic Plan, while also reflecting the capabilities of the MPS and LUB. The Vision and Guiding Principles should set the tone for land use documents, create expectations for development in the community, reflect the current context in the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth, and align with community members’ goals and hopes for the Municipality.

Existing Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw

The Municipality of the District of Yarmouth Municipal Planning Strategy and Bylaw Review will begin with community and stakeholder consultation to understand your ideas for the future of planning in the Municipality. That input, combined with a review of the current planning documents for what currently works and what doesn’t, will build the foundation from which we can create relevant and supportive planning strategy and land use policy for the future.

Please review the documents below to get up to speed on the current Integrated Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaws.
